January ipsy bag review

Hi Friends,

Well here we go, I am a tough critic. I admit it, if I am allowing you to take $10 from my bank account every month I expect good to great things. I expect undamaged samples. I expect great smelling - undamaged samples no less. If I click that I like to "try new things" in my survey or choose a picture to look like Nicki Minaj as opposed to Meryl Streep, I expect to find something colorful in my bag/box/card/purse/etc. Ya feel me?

Imagine my amazement when I opened my ipsy bag and it was full, so full that one item wouldn't even fit! Full of fun, colorful, new, and exciting products!

I love my monthly bag and I adore the high end, quality products!  I have been wanting a concealer brush and I have been wanting to try Josie Maran's Argan Oil! 99 Cent Sale!

There are a few reasons I check my favorite blogs daily.

I started reading her blog last year and have figured out when I need to head to the drugstore to find the exact deal I am looking for, eye shadows, nail care, hair products, shower goodies...

Wet N Wild is known as that teeny bopper makeup line that costs pennies and is worth using about .5 times right? 

Well no more! They have improved every product they have. Their colors are much more pigmented which basically means more vibrant!
My favorites are the Comfort Zone Palette, which I use every day. And on stand by are my wet n wild color icon eye shadow singles in Brulee, and Nutty. After that are my Coastal Scent Palettes.

The great thing about these little babies is the price, the singles are usually $1.99 but from  8/28/11 to 9/24/11   all their $1.99 products are 99 cents! For the list of the products on sale check out this link!

* My daily eye, Brulee on lid, nutty on crease and a little sugar on the brow bone*
For night time, heavier on the Nutty, I like to add a little Penny to the middle of the lid and blend in your crease. It is beautiful copper color...or color of a penny get it? ;)

Covergirl Smoothers Spf 15 Tinted Moisturizer

$7.00 at Target

This is a great light coverage moisturizer for summer! I have noticed that my winter make-up routine is just not working for this ridiculous California heat. So I am leaving my foundations at home and taking this with me! I use a foundation stippling brush to blend this into my skin and then I use a kabuki brush with a little of this powder. NYC Bronzer: Sunny

This is a very matte bronzer that I like to use to contour my cheeks during winter. Summer on the other hand I like to use it along my t-zone to add a little kick to my already golden skin tone.This is about $3.00 so it doesn't break the bank!

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Tin

I prefer the tin to the stick. Own both, use both and there really is zero difference. I am not a very organic/ natural buyer but I really enjoy the kick this stuff has... try it and you will know what I mean. Again this runs about $3.00, it is a very small tin but it goes a long way.

Smith's Rosebud Salve

Okay I know- I know one after another much? Yep another lip product. But, this one comes with a story! One day my friend and I decided to go to new york. Yes that simple. In one day. well 6 days later we were off to the airport to go! Jet Setters? Nope. Her aunt worked for an airline and graciously gave us stand by passes.
One thing you know if you fly stand by is that you NEVER check your luggage. Because it might be there but you might not. I am pretty sure Keep Calm and Carry On was really meant for this, sorry British Government.
Well there I was ready to go through security and TSA kindly asked to go through my bag. My first thought, I seriously have every bottle in its own huge plastic ziploc, what is the problem. Well my #4 was the culprit. I was even asked to throw it away. GASP. The TSA agent had about a 4.3 in personality already but then she uttered that question. The question that made me cringe.
As I was almost in tears about having to throw my little baby love away, she says.... " Haven't you heard of chapstick" BAM.
Knife in my heart.
This little beauty is heaven. It looks precious, smells lovely and reminds me of my mother. Hence why it was in my luggage. My mother and I are best friends, I wanted something useful that I could pack that would remind me of her. Miss TSA unfortunately had no problemo throwing it in the trash right in front of my very very sad eyes.

A little pricey at $7 a tin, but it lasts FOREVER. Unless you don't give it it's own plastic baggy in your luggage and the TSA has the grinches heart.

You know that scent that just works for everyone, but smells differently on everyone too?
This is mine.
My older sister introduced me to this perfume and then my other sister was wearing it one day, two completely different smells.
I was wearing yesterday and was asked what I was wearing, my friend owns it and also made the comment that it smelt nothing like that on her. Amazing

I had a small heart attack when my local hipster MAC girl told me it was gone gone gone forever.No details. Well thank goodness for a little google action. It is back re-packaged and they made a larger bottle!
For anyone that gets two for a special someone for both birthday and Christmas this is great! hint hint wink wink.

So yesterday I stayed a little late after work and decided to go to one of my favorite college poor-girl finds. This store is in an area I affectionately call.... "The Barrio" it isn't that bad but I like to name everything that meets my eye. So I went and found a great little love.

There is also a makeup section at this place: It has all sorts of different makeup for ONE dollar. Yes, it is a cash only place which is a little odd but everything is sealed and safe so I got a few trinkets

Kleancolor Eyeshadow: American Eyedol Wet/Dry Baked Shadow, in Bronze. $1.00

I love a good bronze/gold color, it is the perfect summer look! You could also use a little bit on your shoulders to enhance your summer glow

L'OREAL Paris, HIP (High Intensity Pigments) Cream Shadow/Paint - 809 Lofty. $1.00

I love this product, if you are MAC kind of gal/guy this would be like a painterly paint pot. It doesn't crease, it added a great amount of color and this would be a great product to travel with you, if you dont have a lot of time you could apply it to your lids with some mascara for a really easy look under 1 minute!

I found one of these at a Dollar store in the past and fell in love! Great color, very light and not goopy. Perfect for summer!

 

I also made a little trip to Forever 21 in Anaheim. I like to call this place Heaven. There is one amazing quality for plus size women at this store. There is an entire section for YOU. It is beautiful, organized and rarely do you see a size 2 in your section. But when you do they typically look at a size and say something rude like "Ugh who wears this" .... nice huh? But then I laugh and try to hold myself back from pointing at the 5 other areas in the store devoted to them.
;)

So I made a trip, headed to their amazing clearance racks and found these  this beauties y.

Well shucks I have two floral tops one for work and one everyday but I can't find their pictures. Once I find them I will update this post.

The other reason I love Forever 21 Anaheim is because ...wait for it...

It is two stories.
